New barbie clothes - part 1

Last week I went to toys r us (yey!) to look at pretty things. 

I knew from looking at the (danish) website, that some of the barbie clothes had been set down in price. There was one outfit I had wanted for a verry long time, and there was an outfit pack that I had started to want recently. At the store I tryed to see if the clothes had print on the back, they looked nice so I bought them

I Uselly dont have anny interrest in the career themed clothes, since my dolls arent adult with jobs but teenagers who go to school. Allso some of it seems too pink, pastel and pretty, to be realistic. Ironic enought the outfit / dress I wanted is pink. I told my boyfriend that I had wanted this dress in forever, and that its pink and girly. He said that it really didint sound like my taste, I agreed with him and then I pointed out that its in one of my dolls taste. I like alot of doll clothes, because it fits one of my dolls style. If I had to choose doll clothes based on my own style there would only be one fashion pack that even came close (the one with the warm orange colors) and that one was a dissapointment. 

Ever since I started to look at Barbie clothes for my liv doll, this dress has caught my eyes. I think its cute and I thought my girl Rose would love it since its pink, gitly and kinda romantic. But what has been holding me back, is that the set is music themed. And music isint one of Roses hobby. But (one of) her best friend Emily, loves music and maybe Rose will support her friend by wearing a dress with musical notes notes on it. I allso werent sure who would get the violin. My first thought was that Emily played the guitar, but when I think about it playing the violin would suit her verry well. 

And it was half prize, so I couldent see any more reasons not to get it. 

Here the clothes in the package with the accessories

When I had removed all the stuff from the package, I noticed that the barbie girl on the cardboard is actually drawn wearing the dress. When in comes to the 3 outfit packs the girls on the cardboard are in their underwear.

Rose is modelling the dress, since it was bought for her. The dress has a simple cut, the bodice is light pink with darker pink tullet around the neckline, pink at the end of the sleeves and a silver belt that is atached to the dress. The skirt is the same light pink as the bodice but it has a pattern of bright pink hearts, white hearts, purple hearts, black music nodes and the barbie logo in bright pink  (im personally trying to ignore it)

I think this dress is verry cute, I like the pattern on the skirt and the light pink color. But I really dont feel like the silver belt fits in. It matches the shoes that you will see in a bit, but I dont think that makes it fit in. I really think it would look better if the belt was black. 

The belt dosent even go all the way around to the back, which looks weird from the sides. But if you only look at the back, I think it looks nice without the belt there. I think im going to try to get the belt off this dress, I really belive it will look better without. 

The tullet dosent go around to the back either, but I get the feeling that its not suppose to. I think it looks fine like that. Im verry happy that the print of skirt goes all the way around. 

When it comes to the accessories I was dissapointed

In the package this looked like, it could be a nice music book. But its just an ugly piece of cardboard.

If it werent blank on the back it might be less awfull, but there really is no jope for this accessory. Im just going to throw this out because its completley worthless to me. I wish they had just skipped on this accesory, and used the money to get better quality somewhere else. 

These shoes does nothing for me, and thats not only becausemy dolls cant fit them. I think they should have been black, and I think Barbie should get bigger feets so she could care shoes with my liv dolls. 

The violin looks nice but it annoy me, that Barbies name is on it. I dont want names on my doll clothes. Im not a fan of having your own name on your clothes and stuff (I dont see the point unless its to make sure people know its yours if it get lost) so I really dont want Barbies name on my doll clothes or doll accessories. Stop it Mattel, we allready know her name. 

It was a big dissapointment for me to see, that the violin dont have a back. I really think it looks bad from behind without a back, and I dont really get why it dont have one. 

The violin is not easy for my dolls to hold. Its a shame but i dont know if there is a way it could be easier to hold. 

Buttom line

I have mixed feelings about this set because I like the dress,but really dislike the belt. Im dissapointed by the accessories but i really wish the violin would have been just a little bit better - Then it wouldent have been a dissapointment but a nice accessory for my music loving gal Emily. 

I just hope Rose will be wearng the dress alot. 

EDIT

I got that ugly belt off the dress, it was actually pretty easy. I just cutted it where it was sewn to the dress, and then all of it came off. 

I really think the dress looks better without the belt, so im happy I cutted it off.

Changing eyes

Something I got exited about when I first started to look at liv dolls - was seeing pictures of collectors that had found a way to change their eyes. 
I read that there are, two different methods.
One of the methods is where you heat up the head, take it off the neck, heat it up again, pop out the eyes, and then put in the new eyes. I read that this method was hard, expseciallu putting in the new eyes. And I did think it sounded rather difficult.
The other method is to cut the head open at the scalp, take the eyes out and then put in the new eyes. 
I thought this sounded much easier, And I decided that this was what I would do. I decided that I would first try to switch eyes on two dolls, I wouldent mind if I ruined. And Then I would do it to the dolls I had decided needed new eyes. But in the end the thought of cutting in my dolls, made me pretty uncomfortable and I was afraid I would mess up. I allso started thinking, that the wigs might not stay on verry well - even if I gluded the scalp on after cutting it off. 
Then I started thinking about the other method,  and I liked the thought about changing eyes without cutting in my dolls. In the end I didnt know what method to use.

I told my boyfriend that I was a litlle frustrated, because I wanted to change my dolls eyes - but i didnt know what method to use. He said that if I I didnt like the thought of cutting the head open, maybe I shouldent do that. He allso said that heating the head up and popping the eyes out, might not be that hard. I agreed with him and the he sais that if I wanted he would help me do it right now. 

I picked up the two dolls that I wanted ton try it on and we sat down by the dining table. 
I picked the Katie that came with the horse, because im not too fond of her eyeshadow and because on of her knee jpints wont close completley. I allso chose the Hayden that I got secondhand becauseb she has a mark on her ear and because her hands and feets are a different color than the rest of her body. 
We used a hairdryer to heat up the heads. It took some patience but besides that it werent too difficult to get the head off and then heat the head up. 
But it was diffucult to get the eyes in, they got wonky and my boyfriend scratched Katies makeup. 
But I think that with some practice I will get better at it.

The girls are happy that they survied, even if they have wonkey eyes now.

I have mixed feelings about this - Im happy that I could switch their eyes but I feel like the end result should have been better. Im still thinking about cutting their heads open one day but for now, I will try to get better at putting the eyes back in. 

I allso wanted to say that even though I do like Katies green eyes, I allso think they are way too bright green. Next to Haydens eyes they look verry unnatural, and in the end I like Haydens better. I decided that none of my girls will have Katies eyes, girls with green eyes will get Haydens.

New lego Belville

I wanted to share something, that dont have annything to do with liv doll.

I bought a new set of lego belville!
The set is from 1998, And I found itr NEW IN THE BOX on ebay. 

This is the set that I bought

I wanted this set because I really wanted the boy with brown hair, I liked the tent and boat + its just a really cute set.

The set arrived friday, and I picked it up Saturday

Here is the front of the box. I like how there is a window, where you can see the doll / figures that come with the set. But for 6 to 10 year olds? dont they mean for 6 year olds and up? ;)

Here is the back of the box, with pictures of other ways you can use the set. I really like that, and the pictures are super cute.

Here is the dolls out of the box, There were clear plastic over them. After removing the plastic they were super easy just to take out.

Lets take a closer look at them

I think its suputer cute that in the instruktions, its the dolls building the set. 

Later on they stopped doing this, which I really think is a shame.

When I was done looking at all the cute pictures, I Started building.

The build was easy, maybe too easy. 

When it comes to legoim the type where I enjoy building, but the end product is most impoetant to me.

As of right now I build things, and then I display them. So the easy build dosent bother me too much, but I know it really bother some people. And I wouldent mind, if it was harder to build.

I think this set is super cute, and it has some nice details. But I do wish that the tentr had a back so I couldent look right through it. 

Lets take a closer look at the dolls

I like this boy verry much. I like his brown hair with blue eyes, I like his blue shorts, I like the kite on his white shirt and I like that he has bare feets. 

Thats how he looks from the back, kinda plain.

The girl is pretty "meh" to me. I think its because her painted on clothes is pink, and we have seen that a thousands of times in the Belville world. I dont like how low her neckline is, and the paint defect really dosent help. But i do like her bare feets, and the shells on her shirt.

On the back there is a cute box with two shells and I think this detail is verry cute.

When I was done, the boy went to live with his new Belville family. The girl and the set went up on one of my shelf. 

Painting accessories

somethikmes I think doll shoes and accessories, are missing painted details. With their molded details, all they would need is a bit of paint on them. I decided to take matter into my own hands, so I bought a tiny brush and started painting.

I started with a pair of Ken shoes

My boyfriend said that these shoes looked like rainboots, and I realized that he was right. I asked him what could change that and he said it would help if the shoelaces was painted.

Its not a perfect paint job but I still think it makes a big difference, and that the shoes not looks much better.

Next I painted my pink Barbie boots

I think they look much better with their molded details painted, but again its far from perfect.

I decided to add a little more paint, and im happy with the result. It might seen silly that I would put work into a pair of shoes my dolls cant wear, but I enjoyed doing it and hopefully I learned something.

I thought the molded details looked nice, but that it allso looked way too plain and that the feather should atleast be another color.

I realized that my favorite ken shoes allso needed a little bit of paint.

Im  not sure If I think this is an impeovement, maybe I just neeed to get use to it.

I had this barbie flower bouquet, and I decided that I wanted it to be a bouquet of flowers in a vase. So I cut off the handle it had, and started looking for a vase. I found some nice wooden beads, and picked out the one that fitted and had the best shape to be a vase. But that bead had a color that didnt match the flower, and it looked weird. I decided to paint the bead pink.

That is the result ,and i think it looks much better. Now the vase with the flowers, are ready to stand in my doll room.
