My first Barbie doll - Made to move Asha

Well tecnically my first Barbie doll (as an adult), was the one that came with the Airbrush Designer Studio. But this Made to Move Barbie, is the first one I picked out because I wanted her, so I think its reasonable to call her my frist.

For half a yearI have been looking for, the Made to move Barbie dolls in the danish stores. I hoping and exspecting, that they would be sold in Denmark. I knew it would probabaly take quite a while, before they woudl be sold here though - yet I was impaitient. Lately I had kinda given up, I still looked for them onec in a while but I din't exspect to see them.
But one day a month ago, I was grocery shopping in Bilka with my boyfriend. I checked the toy area as I do once in a while, and was surprised to see the Made to Move Barbie dolls. When I saw them I ddint even yell in excitment, I was just standing there staring at them. I knew I wanted to get one, so I looked through them to see who they had. I was positively surprised to see that they had all four dolls, I had not exspcted them to have Asha, because not that many black Barbie dolls are being sold in Denmark. Teresa was actually the one I had planned to buy first, but when I saw that they had  Asha - she was the one I wanted. I had actually put Asha at the bottom of my wishlist, because I dint exspect to find her,  and im not a big fan of how her hair is in an updo. But I found her, and I thought that I could put her hair down. My boyfriend allo noted, that I dont have that many black dolls. I was just about to disagree with him, when I realised that even thought I have a nice amount of dolls of color, I actually only have 2 black dolls.

When I got her out of the box, I quickly got mixed fellings about her. I thought some of her limbs where too stiff, and it was difficult for me to get used to the way she pose.I know its nitpicking, but there are a few things my liv dolls can do that she can't, which bothered me. I did like her, but I allso didnt feel like I bonded with her. When I started to dress her up in different clothes, I found it diffecult becasue some of it didnt fit. I allso had trouble finding something that i thought suited her. I felt a bit dissapointed, but the thought of selling her and not collecting these dolls didnt seem so bad. I would save the moneya nd the room + I dont really feel like I have time for all my dolls.

I realised where my issues with her was comming from. I have read alot of great reviews about theese dolls, and I have been drooling over them sinec I heard about them. I thought she would be the perfect barbie, but she is not. The perfect Barbie probably dosent excist, no doll is really perfect, not even my Liv dolls. And when I took her down from the pedestal I put her on, I started to bond with her more.

I do really like her body. Compared to my liv dolls, her body looks alot more realistic. Some of her extra joints makes her arms and thights look a bit bulky, but I think that makes her looks strong. But I dont like how small and thin her ankels and feet are, I think it looks ridiculous comparesd to her strong legs. I think she would look good with bigger feet, but I know that she wouldent be able to share shoes with other Barbioe dolls, and sharing is important. I allso think that she dosent look too skinny, which is nice.

Her face is really and pretty, with those brown eyes and her sweet smile. I dont really like open mouth smiles on dolls, I think closed moths have more posibility to display a ray of different emotions. But I actually like her smile, I dont think its too much like on some other Barbie dolls. And her lips are a verry pretty colors. I really like that she dosent wear too much makeup, and has a sweet  face.

I had a bag with Barbie dolls shoes, from all those Barbie fashion packs I have bought. I probablly have more shoes for my Barbie, than I do for my liv dolls. And if I want more shoes, I can buy accessory packs at Toy's r us, that contains two pair of shoes and other stuff. Its quite nice to have a doll that is easy to find shoes for.

I tryed dressing her up again, and it actually became quite fun. I think she looks verry beautiful in this elegant dress. Im not a fan of her hairstyle though..

So I decided to take her hair down. All I did was brush it down, and it ended up looking like I wanted it to. Her hair is a little longer on one side, but it dosent bother me - if I arrage her hair properly you can barely see it. I really like this short curly hairstyle for her. After I took her hair down, I started to fall in love with her.

I tryed some more outfits on her

Cute and romantic.

A nice practical everyday outfit.

Something for a fun day with friends.

Ready for a date.

She even got something for when winter comes around.

As im working on figuring out her style, I wish I had more clothe to work with. I would love to have something yellow for her to wear. Im allso working on her personality, so far I know that her name is Kira, she is 19 year old and she might be a bit of a perfectionist´.

I would love to get her a few frineds, but I will have to be patient about it. Im planning on buying a new Paola Reina doll this fall, and if I want more doll clothes, I should not buy any more dolls this year. Im allso not sure, where I should buy my next barbie doll. I can get them cheaper if I buy  online, but I wanna support the Danish stores selling them. And there is something speciel about buying a doll, and taking it home right away.

Barbie airbush designer studio

So im normally not into playsets, I personally find them boring and uninspiring. I  think the gimmicks (like color changeing pets and clothes) limit the posibility for play, because its often that the gimmick, is the only thing the playset or doll can do.
But this airbrush studio caugh my attention, I saw some youtube reviews of it, and I saw the posibility to be creative and make some unique clothe for my Liv dolls.
In january I looked at the Airbrush designer studio in Toys r us, and our big retail store called Bilka. But the price was 450 kr (68$), and I thought that was too much, especially because the set came with a plain barbie doll that I didnt want.
So i decided that I would have to let it go.

But then one day in february when my boyfriend and I was in Bilka, I felt the urge to look at their big bins with marked down toys. I dont often look in those bins, because I havent found annything I wansted before. But this time I found, the designer studio marked down to 200 kr (30$). The box was in bad shape, but I felt seriously tempted. I was unsure thought, since I felt like it was alot of money to use on an impulse buy. But my boyfriend urged me to get it, he said it wasent really an impulse buy since I had wanted it, and that I might regret it if it was gone the next time we would stop by. I thought he was right, so I picked our the one in the best shape (there were several of them in the bin).
And I quickly became pretty excited to try it out.

The front of the box show the airbrush studio, that you can do alot of defferent designs and it shows the stencils it comes with. It allso explain that the color will go right off, when you wash the clothe.
You can allso see the doll that it comes with.

The back shows the 4 pieces of clothing the set comes with, and more about how you do it. I really like how the clothes is differeny types instead of just 3 mini dresses, like anothe Barbie design studio I have seen around. It allso shows that there are two add on packs, with even more different clothes to decorate. That is one of the reasons I thought this set, would be able to keep me entertained. I really want those add on pakcs, it looks like they have some nice clothes in them. I would have liked to buy them soon after I tryed out the studio, but I could not find them in any of the danish stores. Offcors there is allways Ebay and Amazon, but havng to buy them online made me put it off getting them.

Here is the studio out of the package, with the markers and stencils. There are only 4 colors to work with, and I find that limiting. As far as I have seen, these kinds of playsets, dont come with many colors - which I thihnk is  a shame. It would have been nice if the add on packs came with different colors, like green or yellow. But as far as I can see, one of them come with a pink marker and the other with a purple marker.

The Barbie doll that caem with the studio, is verry basic and plain. I would rather that she didnt come with this playset, since I dont want her and I dont know what to do with her. I quess I could sell her, with some of the Barbie clothe I dont whant.

Her face is pleasant enough, I like it better than the previous barbie face. I think this "new" face looks more sweet, i still think she looks plain though.

This is the first outfit I made. Hannahs favorite colors is orange, but she does not own a single piece  of oraneg clothing. Since she loves animals, I decided to do the cat stencil in orange with pink hearts. I think the cat turned out okay, but the hearts ended up being pink blobs instead.
I tryed to make her a matching orange skirt, and decided to decorate it with purple stars. I think it turned out well, and the stars look really nice.

Since I dont like Barbie clothes with plain backs, I offcors decorated the mini skirt on the back as well. There is however some white spots, that I didnt get  covered. It does take more time to do solid color, but I wont be lazy with this.

I was content enought with my first try, but i felt like I wanted to make something a little different for Hannah.

So I decided to wash the top and miniskirt. The orange came out right away when I put it in the wather, the pink took a little more time. But aftet I had rubbed it and let it soak, the clothes was perfectly white again, and ready for a new design.

The second time around, I decided to drop the tank and miniskirt. Instead I chose to decorate the T-shirt and pair it with Hannahs favorite skirt. I made the shirt solid orange (as best as I could) and use the setncil to make a pink cat on it. Im content with the result, it fits Hannah nicely. Its not perfect - I kinda wish I could have sprayed the orange on more evenly. But I allso think that its part of the charm.

Shina was in need of something speciel as well, she needed a dress that would  match her blue glasses. I made the bodice of the dress a solid blue, and it was a perfect match. Instead of making the whole dress blue, I choose to make the skirt solid purple. I allso wanted a pattern on the skirt, and I tryed to use the stencil, to make a blue and pink zig zag pattern. But unfotunally it blurred out, and I sttled for stripes instead. I considered making a pattern on the bodice as well, but I thought that would make the dess too busy.
Im personally verry happy with how this turned out, I think its a nice simple summer dress, that is allso interesting with the colors and pattern.

And offcors I remembered to do teh back as well.

Lilly dosent have much clothes, and I have trouble figuring out her style. I wanted to make something to match her green shorts, so I made the top solid purple. I wanted the top to have a pattern, but I didnt know what woudl suit Lilly. i just ended up choosing the dimond stencil, and the blue marker. the dimond shape didnt turn out verry well, so im not really happy with how the top turned out.

My original plan with this post, was to get the add on packs, and write about them as well  before I posted. But I kinda forgot about this post,a nd I kept putting off getting the add on packs. I recently took the desiogner studio out of storage, because I wanted to redo the top, and then I remembered that I was gonna meke a blog post about it. Hopefully there will be a follow up post, with the add on packs and more designs I have made.
